Rear Admiral Ramil Roberto Enriquez Assumes as 34th Commander of WESCOM

Camp General Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City ̶ In a Change of Command Ceremony held at the Rizal Reef Hall, Camp General Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City, Tuesday, November 24, 2020, REAR ADMIRAL RAMIL ROBERTO B ENRIQUEZ officially assumes as the 34th Commander of Western Command. The Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines, GENERAL GILBERT I GAPAY presided the said ceremony via Zoom.
RADM ENRIQUEZ PN is a proud member of Philippine Military Academy “Maringal” Class of 1988. Before taking his post in WESCOM, he was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs, J9. Given his impeccable skills as a Naval Officer, he was entrusted to be the Commanding Officer of various Philippine Navy vessels such as BRP CEBU (PS28), BRP BONNY SERRANO (PG111), BRP ALBERTO NAVARETTE (PG-394), and BRP FEDERICO MARTIR (PG-385).
He also successfully headed the Naval Task Groups Central and Sulu under NTF61, Naval Task Group Tawi-tawi under NTF62 both in Naval Forces Western Mindanao Area of Responsibility. He commanded Naval Task Force 41 in Naval Forces West in Palawan. He had also occupied various positions of major responsibility in the Philippine Navy, among which are Commander of Headquarters, Naval Intelligence Security Force, AC of NS for Intelligence, N2; Deputy Commander of Naval Forces West, Commander of Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao, before he assumed as Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs, J9.
With proven competency in his career track record, he was designated in various collateral assignments, one of which was being designated as the Vice Chairman of Republic of Philippines-Republic of Indonesia Border Crossing Committee.
In his speech in the Change of Command Ceremony he said that “As efficient WESCOM as it is, my first official guidance will be for all existing policies and regulations to stay in effect unless directed in the future. The task at hand may be huge – but I firmly believe that --- with the full support of our President --- and with the able strategic guidance from our top defense and military leadership, your WESCOM shall perform effectively and be even more inspired to attain its mission.”
He emphasized three important guidance during his first meet and greet conference with WESCOM’s Staff Officers. First, he put premium on the career development of Officers and Personnel of the Command, secondly zero tolerance on the use of illegal and prohibited drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol. Lastly, his leadership is defined by the accomplishment of the mission and morale and welfare of the unit.
On the other hand, LTGEN GLORIA, who is also a member of the PMA “Maringal” Class of 1988 officially assumed his post as the Vice Chief of Staff, AFP.

LTGEN ERICKSON R GLORIA PAF, Joint Forces Commander, WESCOM, together with BGEN NESTOR HERICO PN(M), Commander, 3MBDE/JTFP paid honors to the remains of late Corporal Christian P Cuarto PN(M) in today’s send-off ceremony at TOW West ABAB Ramp, ABAB, PPC, Palawan.

The remains of Cpl Cuatro will be flown to Manila and will be ferry to his hometown in Nabua, Camarines Norte.

It can be recalled that Cpl Cuarto was pronounced DOA at Roxas Municipal Hospital after being ambushed by undetermined number of fully armed communist terrorist groups at Sitio Ibangley, Brgy Abongan, Taytay last July 13 2020.

On behalf of Team WESCOM family, we offer our deepest and sincerest condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones of the late Cpl Cuarto.

LTGEN ERICKSON R GLORIA PAF, Joint Forces Commander, Western Command accompanied by BGEN NESTOR HERICO PN(M), Commander Joint Task Force Peacock and BGEN SHARON G GERNALE PAF, Deputy Joint Forces Commander for Operations, WESCOM bestowed the Wounded Personnel Medal to recuperating Corporal Marlon M Escober Jr Philippine Navy (Marines) and Corporal Remuel N Redondo Philippine Navy (Marines) at Camp General Artemio Ricarte Station Hospital, Brgy San Miguel Purto Princesa City, for having been wounded in action as member of the Marine Battalion Landing Team- 3, Philippine Marine Corps during an encounter against undetermined number of fully-armed Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) while conducting mobile patrol in the vicinity of Sitio Ibangle, Barangay Abongan, Taytay, Palawan on July 13, 2020.

WESCOM Conducts Senior NCOs Forum/Fellowship in its Joint Area of Operations

Just recently, the Command through the Office of the Command Sergeant Major with SMS Rhoel M Graganza (INF) PA, the Command Sergeant Major conducted the Senior NCOs Forum/Fellowship. It was attended by the different Senior NCOs in WESCOMs' Joint Area of Operation and other Law Enforcement Agencies in the Province. The objectives of the one (1) day Forum/Fellowship was to develop and strengthen the camaraderie and esprit de corps of the Enlisted Corps and other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs); to maintain the good relation between AFP and LEAs in the Province and uplift the morale and state of discipline of individual soldier.

The Forum/Fellowship was formally opened by COL ROMEO T RACADIO PN(M) (GSC), Chief of Unified Command Staff and the Guest of Honor and Speaker and was graced by LTGEN ERICKSON R GLORIA AFP, Commander, Western Command as the Special Guest.
