Team WESCOM thru CPT JOSE OLIVERUS L SEPE CHS, Chief of the Civil Military Operations, WESCOM was invited to be the resource speaker on the issues regarding West Philippine Sea (WPS) on July 7, 2016 at the Schools Division Office of Palawan, DepEd Compound, Puerto Princesa City. More or less 150 Principals and District Heads were attended during the event.

Military Doctors Gives Service to 350 Patients

Camp Gen. Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City -- Barangay Magkaibigan residents were very happy to received basic medical services and medicines for free as military doctors rendered services there last October 19.Medical corps from the Western Command, 570th Composite Tactical Wing, and Naval Forces West joined forces with doctors and nurses of the City Health Office in the Lingkod Kapamilya medical mission servicing 350 residents including children at the Puerto Princesa Pilot Elementary School. Lingkod Kapamilya is the community social responsibility (CSR) arm of television station ABS-CBN network. "It was an overwhelming experience to be able to serve the community," said Air Force Maj. Teresita B. Nabua who led the military medical corps team.Nabua said the activity aims to strengthen the relations of the Armed Forces, the community and the media. It also aims to uplift the medical condition of the populace, she added.--END

MNLF, AFP Assure Palawan As “ZONE OF PEACE”

Camp Gen. Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City – The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in the province assured Palawan remains what they called as “Zone of Peace and Development”, corresponding to Western Command’s report to the Provincial Peace and Order Council that the province remains peaceful. The meeting was convened by PPOC chairman Palawan Governor Jose C. Alvarez who presided over the discussion.

Gen. Estino Jairi Ayyobie, MNLF senior leader in Palawan, said that as a peace and development zone, their organization is bound to respect the agreement it signed with the Ramos administration in 1997 which covers 14 provinces and 10 cities including Palawan and supposedly Zamboanga City where there was a stand-off between Moro fighters and the military.

Training More Rangers for Tubbataha

Camp Gen. Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City – Nineteen more personnel from the Naval Forces West and Coast Guard District Palawan were added to the pool of park rangers for the Tubbataha Reefs after the three-day 13th Comprehensive Training for Marine Park Rangers (MPR) on Oct. 10 to 12 at the Naval Station Apolinario Jalandoon in Barangay San Miguel. 

According to Commodore Joseph Rustom O. Pena, commander of the Naval Forces West, the training was designed to equip law enforcement personnel for future assignment to Tubbataha with better understanding of their role in marine conservation, particularly as they comprise the first line of authority in the Tubbataha Reefs.
