A simple welcome ceremony for the ship's officers and men was facilitated by Naval Forces West that includes a band performance by the 570th CTW and ”Man-the-Rail” as a time-honored tradition of the naval service. It was attended by military contingents in the Western Command’s AOR and local government officials of Puerto Princesa City and Palawan.

BRP Tarlac was loaded with logistical supplies for the 3rd Marine Brigade and its Battalions in Northern and Southern Palawan, operational supplies for the Naval Special Operations Unit-4, and cargoes for the ships in the AOR. The sealift of assorted relief goods intended for the people of Palawan from Support Your Navy Foundation Inc. (SYNFI) and Headquarters Philippine Marine Corps was also part of the ship’s mission.

An “Open House” will be held on Jan. 11 to showcase her capabilities as the Philippine’s first landing dock platform as well as to give opportunity for the residents of Puerto Princes City for a guided shipboard tour is also part of this visit. Among those who were invited in the Open House are members of the media, Navy Reservists, representatives from the local government units, students of PPC and other stakeholders.

BRP Tarlac is the first of the two landing dock vessels of the PN commissioned on June 2016. WESCOM Condemns Murder of Former NPA Rebel in South Palawan

Published: Thursday, 07 December 2017

Camp General Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City -- Western Command condemns the killing of NPA surrenderer named JunJun Lacaran @JASON/ ARMAN who was shot dead by an unidentified assailant utilizing a short firearm around 10am on 07 December 2017 in Sitio Cabangaan, Barangay Samariñana, Brooke's Point, Palawan.

This Command condemns to the higest degree the killing of their own who only wished to live a new life with his family and loved ones.

The surrenderer was a member of Indigenous People who was recruited by the NPA terrorists with false promises. When he realized that life was more difficult in the mountains, he decided to return to the community to have a peaceful life, only to be murdered by his former comrades.

The murderous act committed by the NPA bespeaks only of their treachery and the terrorism they conduct by sowing fears to the society contrary to what they claim as a "pro-people" organization.

The treacherous act gives justice to the recent pronouncement by President Duterte that the NPA is a terrorist group.

The NPA criminal's killing of their own manifests their selfish agenda by preventing a new and good life to come upon their former members who decided to return to the fold of law and be reintegrated in the mainstream of society.

Their number and capability have been dwindling away due to the surrender of 79 members since 2013 and capture of more than 30 high powered firearms and other war materials that resulted from the focused and civil military operations of Team WESCOM.

Meanwhile, WESCOM shall continue with its relentless fight against communist terrorism and other threats in its Area of Responsibility. ###
