NAVY PATROL CRAFT PROVIDES MEDICAL ASSISTANCE TO A FOREIGN NATIONAL AT TUBBATAHA

Headquarters Naval Forces West, Barangay Macarascas, Puerto Princesa City – The Philippine Navy’s (PN) Patrol Craft PC380 provided assistance to P/Y ATLANTIS ASOREZ, a pleasure yacht with more or less twenty (20) foreign nationals/guests, south east off Tubbataha Reef Natural Park in the early morning of March 22, 2018.

PC380 skippered by Lcdr Kenneth C Lozaṅes PN while conducting maritime patrol at vicinity seven hundred (700) yards SE of Tubbataha Ranger Station received information thru marine band that one of the passengers of P/Y ATLANTIS ASOREZ needed immediate medical assistance.

A certain Frances Jean Lewis, seventy one (71) year old female American, suffered from a fractured left knee after she accidentally slipped at Yachts toilet. PC380 provided necessary assistance to the American National and immediately evacuated her from Tubbataha Reef enroute to 2LT Lagare Pier, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. At around 10:00 am, said vessel arrived at 2LT Lagare Pier and transferred Ms Frances Jean Lewis to a waiting ambulance of the Adventist Hospital.

The Naval Forces West continues to perform its mandate of protecting the Country’s Western Front. It continuously deploys its naval assets and personnel to respond to any given emergency situation in the area.

TEAM WESCOM RESCUES PALAWEÑO FISHERMAN IN WEST PHILIPPINE SEA

Camp General Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City -- A fisherman from Palawan was sighted and rescued by a Naval floating asset at vicinity of Dalagang Bukid Shoal in West Philippine Sea on 23 March 2018.

According to a report reaching this headquarters, Mr Albert Carcuevas, 33 years old and a resident of Barangay Sicud, Rizal, Palawan was fishing in Rizal when his small banca encountered engine trouble. His banca was drifted towards West Philippine Sea. Carcuevas revealed that he stayed on board his banca for the past three days without food and water until he was rescued.

At present, Carcuevas is in Ayungin Shoal and in stable condition. His family has been informed of what has happened to him, while Western Command shall ensure his safe return.

WESTERN COMMAND TURNS 42

Camp General Artemio G Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City – Western Command celebrates its 42 years of service in a simple ceremony with the Chief of Staff Armed Forces of the Philippines, GENERAL REY LEONARDO B GUERRERO AFP as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, held today, 15 March 2018.

With the theme “Kaagapay sa Katahimikan at Kaunlaran ng Palawan at ng buong Sambayanan”, Western Command headed by LIEUTENANT GENERAL ROZZANO D BRIGUEZ AFP reports the accomplishments and lays down the future plans and programs.

As part of the celebration, a series of pre-anniversary activities were organized and conducted in the city and the province. Some of which were the following: Mangrove Tree Planting on 14 February in Sitio Barimbing, Brgy. San Manuel; Medical and Dental Mission on 24 & 25 February in Rizal and Brooke’s Point, Palawan; 2018 Western Command Student Art Competition on 05 March; Bloodletting Activity on 08 March; 2nd Palawan Inter-school Debate Championship on 09-11 March; and, Gift Giving Activity on 14 March in Brooke’s Point, Palawan.

This year’s celebration is also an opportunity to value and give recognition to commendable WESCOM personnel and its stakeholders for their significant contributions in the over-all mission accomplishment of the Command, to wit:
