Training More Rangers for Tubbataha

Camp Gen. Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City – Nineteen more personnel from the Naval Forces West and Coast Guard District Palawan were added to the pool of park rangers for the Tubbataha Reefs after the three-day 13th Comprehensive Training for Marine Park Rangers (MPR) on Oct. 10 to 12 at the Naval Station Apolinario Jalandoon in Barangay San Miguel. 

According to Commodore Joseph Rustom O. Pena, commander of the Naval Forces West, the training was designed to equip law enforcement personnel for future assignment to Tubbataha with better understanding of their role in marine conservation, particularly as they comprise the first line of authority in the Tubbataha Reefs.

'Dance Fever' for soldiers, nurses at City Baywalk Park

Camp Gen. Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City -- Military nurses join the "Hataw sa Baybay" fitness event by the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) on October 21 at the City Baywalk Park.

Hataw sa Baybay is a fun dance that fuses fitness and entertainment, which is part of the pre-convention activity of the PNA. The national organization of nurses will hold its national annual convention in Puerto Princesa City from October 22 to 24, that is expected to bring in over 1,500 nurses from all over the country.

Military information officers participate in Palawan Press Club's journalism workshop

Camp Gen. Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City -- "Pen is mightier than the sword," so goes an old cliche. To enhance their skills in writing, military public affairs officers participated in a one-day comprehensive journalism enhancement seminar organized by the Alyansa ng Palawenyong Mamamahayag Inc. (APAMAI) and Focolare Movement at the Victoriano J. Rodriguez Hall, Capitol Complex, Puerto Princesa City Oct. 20. Apamai is the media organization Palawan Press Club while Focolare is an international organization that promotes the ideals of unity and universal brotherhood.

WPS Spokesperson To Preside Command Turnover of CMOU-W

Camp Gen. Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City – Marine Col. Edgard Arevalo, spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea (WPS) issues and concurrent commander of the Philippine Navy’s civil military operations group, will preside over the turnover of command of the Civil Military Operations Unit-West (CMOU-West) on October 15 at the Naval Station Apolinario Jalandoon in Puerto Princesa City.

Col. Arevalo will bestow the outgoing CMOU-West commanding officer, Navy Lieutenant Junior Grade Stanlee Vince Gonzaga, a military merit award for his “actual participation and valuable services rendered as  Acting Commanding Officer, CMOU-West from 26 July 2011 to date.”
