Palawenyo Two-Star General Bowed Out from the Service in a Medical Mission

Published: Friday, 04 October 2013

Camp Gen. Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City –Around 1,500 people from various parts of Puerto Princesa City were targeted to benefit from the medical mission sponsored by Rear Admiral Miguel Jose S. Rodriguez as his retirement activity.

The medical mission was conducted by team WESCOM composed of Medical and Dental Civic Action Teams from the Naval Forces West, 570th Composite Tactical Wing, Joint Task Force Peacock, 3rd Marine Brigade, Marine Battalion Landing Team, and the 6th Civil Relations Group. It was Rodriguez' “birthday gift” to Palawenyos on his birthday and retirement day for reaching his compulsory retirement age of 56 years old last September 28, 2013 saying he wanted to leave a legacy for the Palaweños.

Said medical mission was intended to benefit the less fortunate people, especially the indigenous people (IPs) in clustered barangays of Puerto Princesa City which was held at the covered court of Barangay Mauyon.

Rodriguez said he would like to make his retirement and birthday celebration more meaningful because he knows many people need it.

He urges Puerto Princesans to extend help to our indigenous and under privilege in the northern part of the city who need medical check-up, saying that the cost of medical treatment deprives or unable these poor people from seeking medical attention.––END
