Camp Gen. Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City – Once again, troops has shown generosity and devotion to duty not only by confronting insurgency and maintaining peace but also in the upkeep of the welfare of people in its area of responsibility especially the indigents. This was manifested as troops of the Western Command joined the bloodletting activities at the Provincial Capitol Complex in Puerto Princesa City sponsored by the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. in cooperation with the provincial government of Palawan and the Philippine Red Cross Palawan Chapter.

The troops of the Western Command with the 6th Civil Relations Group of the Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CRSAFP) donated blood on July 25 at the Capitol. Such endeavor is intended for the less fortunate people when the need of immediate blood transfusion arises.

Helping the less-privileged people in terms of delivery of basic services is one of the non-traditional roles of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in nation building. As such, the troops are exerting efforts not only in neutralizing the insurgents, but also performing its best as a lead or participating agency in conducting various civic oriented undertakings.

The collected blood bags were deposited at the blood bank of PRC-Palawan while the qualified blood donors were given a Blood Priority Card (BPC), compliments of PRC, which they can present in any of its branch to be prioritized when the need of blood arises. ––END
